This app was created for the Moody Center art gallery at Rice University. The main functions include calendar pages for events, a navigational map showing art locations around the campus, and a comprehensive list of all artworks. I was the UX Designer for our team.
To the left is the app's icon, which used both the Moody's logo and color scheme.
Loading Screen
This is the app's loading screen. Using the Moody's logo as a motif, a colorful backdrop of the repeating motif falls down and disappears. The effect is similar to rain falling and was inspired by Houston's sudden and quick downpours.
Events Page
The events page also functions as the app's homepage and comes up immediately after the loading screen. Users can see past, current and future events by scrolling left and right. All past events of the current month are automatically moved to the bottom of the page under the section 'Past events.' The colors were all taken from Moody's color scheme.
Map
The app features a map that allows users to navigate to art locations around campus. By clicking on "Route Me," the user is shown the fastest route to the chosen artwork from their current location.
Art Information
This page allows users to search for any art piece that is currently available for viewing on campus. The default setting orders the artworks by distance, displaying the closest art pieces first. The user can also apply filters to the results, such as type of medium and location.
The information page of each piece gives a brief description of the work as well as any other relevant information. At the bottom of the page is a Route Me button to streamline the process of locating the piece on the map.
